Academic Advising

Advising at Central Piedmont is integral to the college's mission, including educating students for life.  Advisors for academic and transfer services work to provide a range of support for students, including:

  • Academic program planning, course selection, scheduling, and academic guidance
  • Academic scheduling for students to meet their educational goals
  • Assistance with career decision-making and selection of the most appropriate program of study
  • Success coaching and educational planning

Advisors (academic and transfer) work with students during periods of transition, who wish to transfer to four-year colleges or universities, providing help when students re-enter college after time away or when they want to change their program of study. Advisors provide professional guidance for students as they begin their journey at the college. By talking with an advisor, students receive:

  • recommendations about appropriate course placement and selection
  • explanations of institutional policies and procedures
  • assistance identifying strategies for success
  • assistance in developing individualized educational plans
  • guidance in the transition from high school to college
  • guidance during periods of life transition and restarting college
