AWS Testing Certification

AWS testing facilities at CPCC are located at the Harper Campus on Hebron Street in southwest Charlotte.
Single Position Plate Test (WLX 7121)
Single Position Pipe Test (WLX7123)

Skills Practice for Experienced Welders (WLX7076) Practice only; no classroom instruction
Practice welding skills for an AWS test, interview or work under the supervision of an experienced instructor in the welding lab. Students must provide all personal protection equipment. Standard testing materials are provided.

Non-destructive examination (NDE)

NDE is a way of examining material without damaging it to find hidden indications of potential flaws. With aging bridges, roadways, power plants and other infrastructure, more job opportunities exist for those trained to perform inspections.

Introduction to NDE (NDX 8012)
Build a stronger Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) team by ensuring everyone has the same foundation. A knowledgeable team improves business processes, develops quality products and builds team morale. While designed with managers, supervisors, engineers, quality inspectors, procurement, source inspectors and technical personnel in mind, the course is suited for anyone.

NDE Visual Testing Level 1,2 Practicum (NDX 7005)
NDE Visual Testing Level 1, 2 (NDX 8005)
Ultrasonics Testing Method

NDX 7005. NDE Visual Testing, Level 1, 2 Practicum. 0.0 Hours. Class-440.0. Clinical-0.0. Lab-0.0. Work-0.0

This course will introduce the hands on principles of and instruct participants how to apply various components of NDE VT (non-destructive visual testing). This course, combined with online training (NDX-8005), provides sufficient organized training to ensure the student is thoroughly familiar with the principles and practices of visual testing. Upon completion of this course plus online training (NDX-8005), students should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of NDE visual techniques and their applications from Level 1 and 2 qualifications as described in ASNT's SNT-TC-1A using the topical outline of ASNT CP-105-2011.

NDX 8005. NDE Visual Testing, Level 1, 2. 0.0 Hours. Class-440.0. Clinical-0.0. Lab-0.0. Work-0.0

Visual testing is the most common method of nondestructive testing. In fact, most nondestructive applications rely on a visual assessment of parts or components prior to applying their inspection method. Without visual testing, discontinuities such as cracks in aircraft parts may be missed, potentially leading to life-ending tragedies. This course, combined with the practicum (NDX-7005), provides sufficient organized training to ensure the student is thoroughly familiar with the principles and practices of visual testing. Upon completion of this course plus practicum (NDX-7005), students should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of NDE visual techniques and their applications from Level 1 and 2 qualifications as described in ASNT's SNT-TC-1A using the topical outline of ASNT CP-105-2011.

NDX 8012. Introduction to NDE. 0.0 Hours. Class-440.0. Clinical-0.0. Lab-0.0. Work-0.0

This course will help build a stronger Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) team by ensuring everyone has the same foundation. NDE uses group analysis techniques used to determine the structural integrity of a component without damaging or impairing the serviceability of the part or system. Because NDE does not require the destruction or often the dis-assembly of a system, it is a highly-valuable technique(s) that saves time and money in both product manufacture and in service inspection. You will be introduced to NDE terminology, processes and applications, and will be able to define the advantages and disadvantages of using various NDE methods. A knowledgeable team improves business processes, develops quality products and builds team morale. While designed with managers, supervisors, engineers, quality inspectors, procurement, source inspectors and technical personnel involved within the NDE field in mind, this course is suited for anyone that wants to learn about NDE.
